Light Maintenance Technician JLL

What this job involves:

The Light Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in keeping JLL managed facilities running smoothly and safely. This hands-on position supports building operations across seven properties near Columbus, Ohio, performing diverse maintenance and repair tasks that ensure comfortable, functional environments for our clients and their occupants. As an entry level technician, you'll develop versatile skills across multiple building trades while learning from experienced JLL engineers.

This role offers meaningful work with visible impact your contributions directly affect daily operations and occupant satisfaction. You'll gain broad exposure to commercial building systems, creating a strong foundation for career growth within JLL's industry leading facilities management platform.

What your day to day will look like:
  • You'll perform light maintenance activities across assigned client sites, including filter changes, lighting repairs, site inspections, furniture assembly, office builds, and other facility upkeep tasks. Your responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues as they arise.
  • General building maintenance will occupy much of your time—you'll handle interior and exterior carpentry, drywall repairs, light electrical work, light plumbing, and painting projects to keep facilities looking and functioning their best. You'll assist with HVAC system maintenance and repairs, supporting the engineering team in keeping climate control systems operational.
  • Regular inspections of premises and equipment are essential to identify potential issues before they become problems. You'll complete assigned work orders in our computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), maintaining accurate service documentation for all activities.
  • Continuous learning is part of the role—you'll participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational training programs to expand your skillset. The position includes participation in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours emergency response, where you'll address facility emergencies, system failures, and urgent maintenance issues outside normal business hours while maintaining readiness to tackle critical building system malfunctions.
  • Commercial door repair proficiency is particularly valued, including work with electrified locks, panic hardware, mortise systems, and automatic/manual sliding doors.
Required Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
  • You must possess a valid driver's license and high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be currently enrolled at or have recently graduated from Columbus State Community College.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude or previous maintenance experience is essential.
  • You should have experience with preventative maintenance procedures and show proficiency in using various hand and power tools.
  • Strong customer service skills are critical, with the ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written reports.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications including MS Office, Slack, and email is necessary for documentation and communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications in specific trade areas such as HVAC or electrical work strengthen your candidacy. Experience with building automation systems and knowledge of energy conservation practices are valuable assets.
