Skills Needed: Qualifications

MSW or other relevant Master’s Degree.
Three years of direct service child welfare experience and one year of experience supervising child welfare staff; or 5 years direct service child welfare experience and proven leadership skills.
DCFS Child Welfare Employee Licensure required; 402 Licensure preferred or ability to pass 402 licensure test within 3 months of employment.
Experience in behavior management programs and needs assessment helpful.
Ability to lead a team, including strong communication and organizational skills. Must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
Ability to work with DCFS, courts, and other social service systems and the ability to relate to the Agency staff and to the public in a courteous and professional manner.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials.
Reliable, punctual, and able to manage multiple tasks and able to work flexible hours.
Ability to work in an alcohol, tobacco and drug-free environment.
Ability to pass DCFS required a criminal background check including CANTS/SACWIS and SORS.
Ability to provide required DCFS Medical Report/TB test.
Valid Illinois driver's license with acceptable driving record; insured and reliable transportation.

Skills Needed: Masters degree in Social Work or relevant Masters Degree which meets DCFS requirements (from an accredited institution).

LCSW or clinical experience preferred.

A minimum of 5 years of social service supervisory experience working with children and families in the child welfare system. Program leadership preferred.

DCFS Child Welfare Employee Licensure required; 402 Licensure.

Experienced in team building, implementing behavior modification plans and needs assessment.

Ability to work with DCFS, courts and other social service systems.

Ability to pass DCFS required criminal background check including CANTS/SACWIS, Drug Screen and SORS.

Ability to provide required DCFS Medical Report/TB test.

Valid Illinois driver's license with acceptable driving record; insured and reliable transportation.

Sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients and staff.

Ability to relate to the Agency staff and to the public in a courteous and professional manner.

Strong communication, organizational and computer skills.

Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials.

Ability to work flexible hours including some weekends.

Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel, and reach with hand and arms
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds
Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding)
At times, may require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position

A combination of education and experience working with low income immigrant populations is preferred. Commitment to social and economic justice, knowledge of issues impacting working class immigrants in San Francisco, and an ability to work effectively with working class Chinese, Latino, and Filipino immigrants are preferred.

Skills and Abilities
Fluency in English and Spanish is required, literacy in Spanish is strongly preferred.  Strong computer skills including intermediate MS Office skills, Internet research and past experience with database systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work autonomously with focused direction, advocate for team approach, utilize strong organizational skills, listen well, problem solve in on-the-spot situations, remain calm and reassuring in unexpected situations. Ability to work in an independent, organized, calm and reassuring manner using good boundaries and good judgment; to be reliable, dependable and flexible; and to accept supervision, suggestions and feedback. Ability to work within all the rules, regulations, and policies that govern the workforce center’s compliance. Organizational skills required as well as a flexible schedule and hours may vary and include evening work.  If use of a personal vehicle for business is needed, mileage will be reimbursed monthly.
