Description Of WorkThe Nursing Home Surveyor (Nurse Consultant I) is responsible for regulatory activities to determine compliance of nursing homes with federal and state requirements through inspections.
Job Responsibilities- Apply laws, regulations, rules, and protocols established by the state or federal government.
- Make decisions in conjunction with interdisciplinary team members or independently.
- Complete survey reports.
This is a home‑based position servicing the Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Edgecombe, Franklin, Gates, Halifax, Hertford, Nash, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Vance, Wake, and Warren counties region. The Nursing Home Surveyor spends an average of three days per week in nursing homes conducting inspections. Occasionally inspections are required on weekends and night shifts. The consultant may be required for overnight stays when a nursing home is greater than 60 miles from their home‑base.
Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities / Management Preferences
Salary Range: $62,044 - $102,371
- Strong clinical background, including assessment, care planning, and delivery of care.
- Demonstrated skills in communicating effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to compose technical reports using good grammar.
Must pass the Federal Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) within 2 years of hire.
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and one year of experience in the area of specialization.
