Milk Education are recruiting for a purpose-driven, ambitious SEN Teaching Assistant to join a Specialist SEND/SEMH School in Congleton to work on a full‑time basis starting as soon as possible!
You’ll be joining an inclusive, nurturing, and supportive school focused on changing children’s lives for the better by providing best‑in‑class specialist services. The school supports vulnerable young people aged 8 to 18 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who have experienced trauma and difficulty accessing mainstream education.
This is an exciting role for a passionate educator to join a fantastic school to support amazing students to fulfil their potential and develop their skills of independence! We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have prior experience that will tie in with supporting PE lessons.
What You’ll Be Doing in the Role:- Working alongside class teachers to support students individually or in small groups to access a fun, relevant, and functional curriculum.
- Supporting pupils consistently whilst responding to their individual needs, including helping them to self‑regulate.
- Managing behaviour that challenges using empathetic, solution‑focused, and trauma‑informed practices.
- Actively assisting and leading engagement within PE and physical education lessons.
Qualifications:
- Must have recent and relevant experience or a strong awareness of supporting children with SEND/SEMH and complex trauma.
- Inclusive, empathetic approach with a clear understanding of positive mental health promotion and behaviour management.
- Must have the ability to work constructively as part of a classroom team, understanding roles and responsibilities.
- Basic understanding of child development and a willingness to support PE lessons (highly desirable).
- Competitive salary of £22,400 to £24,150 per annum (dependent on experience).
