POSITION TITLE

Coordinator of Behavioral Support

JOB DESCRIPTION

Develop, coordinate, and manage behavior intervention systems in collaboration with campus and district leadership to support the implementation of PBIS, social-emotional learning (SEL), and the District’s Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). Serve as an instructional leader in evaluating, monitoring, and continuously improving district wide behavioral intervention practices.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of district wide behavior support systems aligned to MTSS, PBIS, SEL, and character education.
  • Collaborate with district and campus leaders to ensure consistent, effective behavioral supports and intervention processes across all campuses.
  • Lead the analysis and use of data to monitor behavioral trends, evaluate intervention effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support the design and implementation of Tier II and Tier III interventions to address the needs of students requiring additional behavioral support.
  • Design and deliver professional learning for staff on behavior management, classroom systems, and student support strategies.
  • Serve as a liaison between campuses, families, and district departments to promote safe, supportive, and effective learning environments.
  • Assist with interviewing, evaluating, and supervising prospective personnel.
  • Assist with budget preparation and planning.
  • Consult positively and effectively with principals, teachers, assistant principals, team leaders, department chairs, and parents.
  • Monitor achievement data of all students and act on results.
  • Monitor discipline data of all students and act on results.
  • Monitor Student Support staff to ensure smooth and efficient communication with campuses and other central office staff.
  • Assist principals regarding personnel, upon request.
  • Implement the policies established by Federal and State law, State Board of Education rules, and Board policy as pertains to the assigned discipline area.
  • Demonstrate responsible fiscal control over assigned program budgets.
  • Recommend space, equipment, instructional materials, and facilities necessary for the implementation of approved programs.
  • Seek grant funding as pertains to assigned discipline area.
  • Ensure that teacher expectations are effective in furthering the teaching/learning process and environment.
  • Support the District and campus procedures that enhance a safe and collaborative culture.
  • Ensure teacher expectations for student management procedures and classroom environment are developmentally appropriate.
  • Facilitate collaboration between general education and special education personnel.
  • Keep informed of research, disseminate ideas to other professionals, identify trends and opportunities and apply this information as appropriate.
  • Observe professional and ethical standards in accordance with generally accepted community standards.
  • Maintain memberships and active participation in professional organizations.
  • Develop training opportunities and programs for the purpose of improving the performance of staff members.
  • Communicate District curriculum, instructional and staff development practices in the area MTSS and Character Education, as well as accomplishments, goals, and instructional initiatives to parents and others in the community.
  • Solicit community input on curriculum and instructional issues.
  • Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE
  • Three years successful leadership experience at the secondary level or elementary level
  • Experience in teaching students with disabilities
  • Experience creating and delivering staff development
  • Experience implementing and monitoring MTSS components
QUALIFICATIONS Education/Certification
  • Master’s degree in related field
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Expertise in PBIS, MTSS, RTI, Character Education/Restorative Practices, and classroom management practices
  • Strong background in curriculum, differentiated instruction, and professional learning
  • Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
  • Knowledge of special education procedures and curriculum-based measurement
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret academic and behavioral data to develop Tiered interventions
  • Proficient in using technology for data reporting and analysis
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, and crisis management skills
  • Ability to effective train teachers with limited experience who provide instruction for students with behavior concerns
  • Ability to consult with Mental Health Specialists, LSSPs, and community agencies concerning intellectual, emotional, and behavioral interventions that can be implemented district wide
  • Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution and crisis management.
