Financial Compliance, Financial Manager
Overview
Acara Solutions is looking for an Accounting and Finance Manager for one of our clients in Texas.
Why the Role Exists- First dedicated finance hire in the U.S. The facility has been operational for ~12 months, with ~60 employees today.
- Current finance support consists of: one junior local finance resource who is exiting; back‑office accounting support from the India team.
- The role is being created to ensure: strong financial discipline; accurate local accounting and compliance; scalable processes as the U.S. operation grows.
CFO's definition of success: A disciplined executor who ensures accuracy, compliance, and clean handoffs to the India back office while enabling growth without introducing risk.
Greenfield vs Existing StructureNot a true greenfield build, but meaningful setup work. SAP is fully implemented and live. India SOPs exist but will need local adaptation to U.S. standards and regulations.
- The role will: partially design processes; localize India processes to U.S. GAAP, tax, and compliance requirements; ensure India standards are still followed.
Limited tolerance for errors, particularly in compliance and vendor payments.
Authority & Decision RightsThe role is primarily execution‑focused, not strategic policy‑setting. Independent authority is limited to day‑to‑day execution and local oversight.
- Key expectations: proactively question unclear processes; ensure accuracy before transactions are sent to India; escalates issues appropriately rather than operate in isolation.
Final decision‑making authority ultimately resides with India leadership.
Reporting & Global Collaboration- Functional reporting is into India.
- Standard U.S. business hours are expected.
- SAP and MIS reporting are already in place.
- Known risks the CFO wants mitigated: inaccurate accounting or invoicing; payment backlogs; weak invoice review controls; gaps in understanding U.S. tax and filing requirements.
A CPA is retained (India‑based) to support tax matters.
Success traits in global roles: strong communication, attention to detail, comfort working across time zones, and disciplined follow‑through.
Hands‑On Expectations- The role will be hands‑on initially, with responsibility to: oversee month‑end close; ensure journal entries and ledgers are accurate; review reconciliations; validate vendor invoices before processing.
Over time, the role may evolve toward leadership, but hands‑on ownership remains critical in the near term.
Systems & Infrastructure- SAP is fully operational and owned centrally.
- No immediate system implementations planned.
- The role will participate in future system decisions but is not expected to lead implementations.
- Manufacturing ERP experience is considered essential.
- No current compliance issues identified.
- Priority is maintaining accuracy as the business scales rapidly.
- The role will interact with auditors, tax advisors, and third‑party vendors.
- Red flags for the CFO include: poor documentation; inaccurate reporting; missed filings; weak controls.
- Strong partnership expected with: GM and Plant Manager; inventory auditors; local tax authorities and county auditors.
- Manufacturing accounting experience is mandatory.
- The role may influence cost, inventory, and capital decisions but is not intended to be director‑level today.
- Headcount expected to grow from ~50 to ~150 employees in the next 12 months.
- Automation may offset some finance headcount needs.
- A future U.S. finance team is expected, but timing and structure remain fluid.
- Long‑term growth into a Controller or Finance Director role is possible.
Required Skills /
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience.
- Manufacturing accounting background.
- Experience with controls, reporting, and process discipline.
- Prior experience working with India or offshore teams is a significant advantage.
- High energy, agile, comfortable with ambiguity.
- Willing to travel to India periodically.
- Curious about cost savings and U.S. manufacturing incentives.
- No bonus structure currently in place.
