Job Description
The incumbent under the guidance of the Director of Engineering provides civil engineering for planning, design, project development, implementation, coordination and contract administration of public works facilities and related municipal functions.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesNote:

Education and/or ExperienceSenior Project Engineer:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required;
Civil Engineering is preferred. - Minimum of 8 years civil engineering experience with a background in public works facilities, including water and wastewater systems, streets, drainage and land development, along with knowledge of the various regulatory agency requirements.
- Knowledge of real property titles, rights-of-way, platting and legal descriptions is necessary.
- Must already be a registered P.E. and become registered in the State of Arkansas within 12 months of employment.
Associate Project Engineer:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required;
Civil Engineering is preferred. - Minimum of 5 years civil engineering experience with a background in public works facilities, including water and wastewater systems, streets, drainage and land development, along with knowledge of the various regulatory agency requirements.
- Knowledge of real property titles, rights-of-way, platting and legal descriptions is necessary.
- Must already be a registered P.E. and become registered in the State of Arkansas within 12 months of employment.
Junior Project Engineer:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required;
Civil Engineering is preferred. - Minimum of 2 years civil engineering experience with a background in public works facilities, including water and wastewater systems, streets, drainage and land development, along with knowledge of the various regulatory agency requirements.
- Knowledge of real property titles, rights-of-way, platting and legal descriptions is necessary.
- Must be registered as an Engineering Intern in the State of Arkansas or become registered within 12 months of employment.
Skills and Abilities
The incumbent should possess knowledge of the selection of materials, methods and techniques for construction and layout of operations sequence for public works facilities. The incumbent must have good verbal and written communications skills as well as good organizational skills. Problem solving, and analytical ability are required to perform the duties of this position. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also required.
The incumbent should have knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. Must be proficient in the use of word processing programs, spreadsheets and technical/analytical software.
