Job Description
The FSQA Technician I is responsible for performing real-time quality control checks on raw materials, in-process items, and finished products throughout the production cycle. This role ensures compliance with food safety regulations, internal quality standards, and safety protocols. The technician will operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments, verify production records and inline quality checks, and document inspection results. This position reports to the FSQA Supervisor of the designated area.
Job Duties- Conduct inspections on all types of packaging and products to ensure compliance with defined specifications.
- Perform in-process quality checks and evaluate the accuracy of work performed by production and QA personnel.
- Ensure all products meet specification requirements and comply with FSMA and Global Food Safety standards.
- Execute quality checks including pressure, sensory evaluation, product specific measurements/evaluations, lab quality checks and analysis, weights, date codes, and packaging integrity.
- Perform lab analysis of products.
- Enter test results into the quality database and complete required documentation for lab samples.
- Identify and segregate nonconformances and notify FSQA leadership for appropriate disposition.
- Visually inspect finished product containers/cases for defects or inconsistencies.
- Conduct testing on held or reworked products as assigned.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lab to ensure a safe and compliant environment. - Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment according to established procedures.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety standards, and GMP requirements.
- Collaborate with team members and contribute to FSQA goals by performing additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1–2 years of experience in quality inspection, auditing, data collection, or testing.
- Minimum 6 months of experience in a laboratory setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and logical reasoning skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to follow schedules, SOPs, and both verbal and written instructions.
- English proficiency in reading and speaking.
- Prior experience in food manufacturing preferred.
- Strong math skills, including percentages, averages, and standard deviation.
- Ability to respond promptly to internal and external information requests.
