Essential and Marginal Duties and Responsibilities
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties that must be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Maintain general ledger and AP and AR sub-ledgers.
Process accounts payable transactions in accordance with GAAP under a full accrual accounting system.
Process accounts receivable transactions, including recording receivables, processing/invoicing customers, reconciliation of aged receivables, receipt of payments, collection of outstanding debts, ensuring timely revenue collections, and maintaining the bus fare passes to include distribution, reconciliation, and monthly and year-end inventory reporting.
Record and maintain prepaid items and related amortizations in accordance with GAAP and internal policies.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, drafting journal entries for review where needed.
Reconcile monthly bank statements using the computerized accounting software on a timely basis.
Conduct periodic audits of cash funds held by Staples Street Center and Bear Lane locations.
Assist with end of year inventory count of both parts and fixed assets. |||Compile information and prepare analysis on various accounts for the annual audit process or for review by DOF.
Maintain the record keeping financial management of the leases for the Staples Street Center (SSC).
Maintain various accounting procedures and processes, making recommendations where appropriate.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Maintain confidentiality regarding all CCRTA-related business information and personnel issues.
Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications Include Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAccounting and auditing theory and practices include governmental accounting standards and automated financial systems.
Knowledge of cash management and banking practices.
Communicate in English effectively, verbally and in writing with an emphasis on clarity of expression.
Exercise independent judgment and responsible decision making.
Prepare and analyze financial reports, including the ability to detect adverse trends and devise solutions.
Interpret and comply with regulatory requirements.
Recognize checks and balances in accounting controls and reporting.
Comply with CCRTA policies and procedures.
Maintain a dependable attendance record.
Exceptional time management.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills, preferably in an environment with multiple departments and dispersed personnel.
Ability to foster a positive work environment and provide courteous and professional service.
Excellent interpersonal relationship and teambuilding skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and similar word processing applications, with the ability to operate computerized financial software.
Working ConditionsWork primarily in a typical, climate-controlled office environment. An average amount of overtime and extended work hours is required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of the job, the employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions during end of year inventory counts.
Physical RequirementsStandard physical activity includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, and walking activities. Essential and marginal functions require maintaining physical conditions necessary to carry/lift/push or pull loads up 10 lbs.
