Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise for the reliability, maintenance, and performance of plant electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Oversee and ensure safe operation of electrical distribution systems, including compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and facility electrical safety procedures.
- Support PSM‑covered processes through participation in MOCs, PHAs, equipment evaluations, and compliance reviews.
- Lead and facilitate Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFAs) and drive corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Partner with maintenance and operations teams to troubleshoot equipment issues and implement long‑term reliability improvements.
- Develop, review, and approve specifications for electrical components, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Provide guidance for installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Analyze maintenance and performance data to identify trends, failure patterns, and improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to equipment reliability programs, including preventive, predictive, and condition‑based maintenance strategies.
- Support capital projects through design input, technical review, and reliability evaluations.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and internal policies.
- Champion reliability culture through standard work practices and resource recommendations.
- Become a subject matter expert in area‑specific equipment and support skill development/training.
- Provide technical assistance to develop and implement Mechanical Integrity/Quality Assurance, reliability, and PPM programs for Electrical Equipment, Instrumentation, Valves and Power Distribution.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of electrical and/or reliability engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience working with field maintenance personnel in troubleshooting and hands‑on support.
- Proficient computer skills, including use of engineering software and data tools.
- Proven background in the design, specification, installation, and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), including requirements for hazardous (classified) locations.
- Ability to perform and document Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA).
- Experience in chemical manufacturing or other PSM‑regulated industries.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- 10+ years of experience in the manufacturing or industrial sector.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), such as SAP.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher.
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP).
- Advanced knowledge of data analysis, failure analysis techniques, and reliability engineering best practices.
- Strong understanding of reliability methodologies including:
Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Predictive maintenance frameworks. - Familiarity with advanced reliability strategies:
Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Equipment uptime optimization, Life cycle cost analysis / Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). - Proficiency in condition‑based maintenance technologies, such as:
Infrared thermography, Ultrasonics, Performance testing and monitoring tools.
