Job Description
- This role performs routine laboratory testing under the guidance of Medical Technologists and the Laboratory Supervisor.
- The position includes automated and manual procedures, quality control documentation, and support of daily laboratory operations in accordance with all regulatory guidelines.
The Medical Technician will assist with specimen handling, test analysis, result reporting, equipment checks, and general department upkeep. This position may perform some moderate complexity testing once on site training is completed.
Responsibilities- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling processing analysis reporting and record maintenance
- Maintain proficiency testing records and ensure samples are processed the same way as patient specimens
- Analyze specimens using approved testing methods as outlined in department SOPs
- Review and release test results as permitted
- Follow CLIA HIPAA OSHA and all safety guidelines
- Document all quality control activities calibrations maintenance and corrective actions
- Identify problems affecting testing or reporting and notify senior staff when needed
- Follow procedures for reporting critical results to clients
- Maintain complete records of all testing performed on site
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the department
- Ensure all reagents and test kits are documented with received dates expiration dates and opened dates
- Participate in training meetings and new procedure reviews
- Attend mandatory safety sessions and understand the safety manual and equipment
- Participate in regulatory inspections when needed
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor
- Bachelor degree in Chemistry or Biology preferred
- Associate degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology accepted
- One to three years of clinical laboratory experience preferred
- Ability to set work priorities and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to collaborate with other departments
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Licensure Requirements
- No Pennsylvania state license required
PA Child Abuse History Clearance Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History PA Department of Health and Human Services PA Department of Aging This site requires additional hospital credentialing
Schedule:
6:00 PM to 6:00 AM Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & Saturday 36 hours per week
