The City of Corsicana is seeking a qualified Project Coordinator to oversee and support utility line repair, replacement, and relocation projects. This position involves site planning, construction inspection, plan development, and coordination with contractors, utility companies, and city staff. The role offers expertise in utility construction methods and ensures timely and effective execution of infrastructure improvements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Conduct inspections and investigations for utility repair and relocation projects
- Assist with plan development and construction methodologies
- Coordinate relocation efforts with contractors and utility providers
- Monitor project progress and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Drive to and from job sites, communicating by two-way radio and telephone
- Prepare and maintain reports, records, and related documentation
- Climb in/out of ditches, step over obstacles, and traverse various terrain
- Work in all weather conditions for extended periods of time
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing or overseeing utility construction projects
- Technical or professional proficiency in water systems, sewerage systems, civil engineering, or construction management
- Experience coordinating with contractors and utility companies
- Familiarity with NCTCOG testing procedures
- Knowledge of construction materials used in water and sewer lines, wells, tanks, and pump stations
- Ability to operate equipment such as backhoes, track hoes, and dump trucks
- Basic proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software
- Ability to schedule, plan, and manage multiple short- and long-term projects
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to read and write legibly, and effectively communicate via phone and radio
- Capable of lifting up to 100 lbs
- Ability to work safely in confined spaces, trenches, and varied terrain
- Skilled in operating equipment and tools used in utility construction
- Effective at coordinating with the public, contractors, and other City employees
- Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
- Be subject to random testing throughout employment
- Maintain a valid Texas CDL-A license and satisfactory driving record
- Exhibit regular attendance and punctuality
- Successfully complete a one-year probationary period
