The Physical Activities Course (PAC) program, a part of the School of Exercise, Sport, and Health Sciences at the College of Health at Oregon State University, is inviting applications for one or more fixed‑term, non‑tenure track full‑/part‑time Aerobics & Fitness Development (Resistance & Endurance Training Formats) Instructor positions. These assignments will be term‑by‑term for the Spring, Summer, and Fall terms of the 2026 academic year.
Some appointments may be reviewed for renewal or transition to a permanent instructional role annually, at the discretion of the Program Director. Applications submitted to this recruitment pool will be reviewed on an as‑needed basis, and qualified candidates will be contacted when positions become available. Scheduling for each term is determined in February for the Spring term, November for the Winter term, and May for the Fall term.
The PAC Program’s mission is to provide all Oregon State University students with the knowledge and experience to make sound decisions regarding physically active lifestyles. The Program offers quality instruction in safe, adequately equipped facilities and aims to create a positive, enjoyable learning environment. Course offerings include, but are not limited to, aquatics, artistic & social dance, fitness development, martial arts, mind/body, outdoor recreation, resistance training, sports, and games.

Key Responsibilities95% Teaching:
- Teach Aerobics & Fitness Development courses, focusing on rhythmic cardio formats.
- Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning, employing appropriate teaching strategies and instructional technology.
- Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials, develop and update syllabi, post grades promptly.
- Respond to emergency situations, ensuring safety and coordinating with appropriate personnel.
- Establish meaningful student learning outcomes, develop assessments to measure progress, and maintain accurate records.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and circumstances.
2.5% Support:
- Be accessible to colleagues and students for advisement and consultation.
- Prepare, distribute, and submit syllabi and approved course outlines for assigned sections.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Substitute for other instructors as needed.
- Participate in meetings and events required by program administrators, responding promptly to information requests.
2.5% Personal and Professional Growth:
- Maintain thorough and up‑to‑date knowledge of the field, and connect subject matter with related disciplines.
- Participate in professional development, professional organizations, conferences, certifications, or workshops.
- Use appropriate technologies to enhance the teaching and educational experience.
- Familiarize with college and program goals and contribute to planning and development processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in any field.
- Extensive participation or involvement in the activity area of expertise within Aerobics & Fitness Development or a relevant professional certification.
- Current certifications in a rhythmic cardio format (e.g., Cardio Kickboxing, Cardio Dance, or Step Aerobics).
- Current, valid Adult CPR and AED Essentials certification by the start of classes.
- Current, valid First Aid certification by the start of classes.
- Demonstrated commitment to educational equity.
