Our WINGS program is for students between the ages of 18 to 21 who are eligible for special education and have not earned a high school standard diploma. WINGS provides first‑hand independent living and work experiences within the community according to the students' individual needs. Students receive instruction related to pre‑employment skills, work experiences, functional independent living skills, self‑advocacy, friendship and dating, and social‑emotional growth.
Purpose: Assist licensed staff in the implementation of an individualized education program (IEP); provide individualized and small group instruction; assist with student data collection.
Hours: 7.25 hours per day
Contract Status: Regular/Probationary
FLSA Status: Non‑exempt – Classified
Start Date: 2026/2027 School Year
Calendar: 183 Work Days
Rate: $24.25 per hour with benefits
Retirement Contribution: Corvallis School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP). Upon eligibility, the district contributes 6% of an employee's salary to their Individual Account Program (IAP). Eligibility is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position. Part‑time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.

Minimum Qualifications- Associate’s degree (or higher), 72 quarter or 48 semester credits, or a passing score on a district‑approved assessment.
- Prior experience working with special‑needs children is desirable.
- Assist in implementing developmental, academic, and life skills instructional programs in individualized instructional settings. May work with small groups or one‑to‑one.
- Work effectively with and respond to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
- Use independent judgment to manage classroom/program operations in line with administrative direction, district policies, and instructional goals.
- Provide instruction under the supervision of licensed staff in small group and one‑on‑one settings; adjust lesson plans or teaching strategies as necessary to achieve IEP goals.
- Implement a behavior management program under guidance of licensed staff; assist students with behavior management and education on appropriate interpersonal actions, respond to discipline problems, and act as a role model.
- Receive direction from an assigned licensed staff member. Perform tasks within discretion as long as they align with IEP goals and objectives.
- Provide supplemental practice in various learning experiences, including drills and activities designed by licensed staff to reinforce or modify skills.
- Help students develop positive interpersonal relationships with peers and adults; promote safety by fostering self‑confidence.
- Record and maintain accurate developmental data; confer with licensed staff to provide feedback on student performance.
- Supervise students in and outside the classroom, such as riding the bus, playground, or community job sites, to support discipline and instructional program.
- Provide instruction in basic skills, behavior, communication, self‑help skills, motor skills, and academic skills as outlined in the individualized education plan.
- Assist students with basic skills that may include feeding, toileting, therapy, transportation, and other related needs. Assist with physical movement, lifting, carrying, and communication requiring use of specialized devices.
- Work with students who may exhibit challenging, including aggressive, behaviors and creatively solve difficult situations using intervention strategies aligned with IEP goals.
- Assist licensed staff in training volunteers, professionals, and peer tutors to work with students in support of the district educational plan.
- Attend in‑service and workshop training related to area of assignment; apply training such as Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) to instructional responsibilities.
