Role Summary
Synchrony’s Identity and Access Management Team focuses on privileged access and the controls and technologies that secure the company. The AVP, Privileged Technology Engineer participates in developing and implementing the strategy and roadmap for privileged identity and access management tooling and processes. The role will work closely with business partners on strategic IAM and corporate-wide programs as a thought leader.
Essential Responsibilities- Design, engineer, deploy, configure, and document privileged access management solutions in collaboration with application architects, lead engineers, product teams, information security, and risk management.
- Develop automation to build, test, deploy, and maintain privileged access management solutions, adhering to Dev Ops processes.
- Provide deep subject‑matter expertise on privilege platform services, entities, configuration, and best practices to evolve Synchrony’s privileged access management strategy.
- Integrate and build operational support structures to deliver enterprise‑ready services for new technologies.
- Drive operational and technical excellence of privilege processes and technologies using performance and availability metrics.
- Maintain day‑to‑day privileged platform configuration to support business requirements, application integrations, workloads, regulatory compliance, and other platform efforts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated production issues with various groups and deliver on key business objectives.
- Identify, propose, and remediate process and technical gaps in Synchrony PIM service.
- Coordinate on‑call coverage on a rotational basis with team members to respond to high‑priority incidents outside normal working hours.
- Train, mentor, and guide team members in existing and new processes.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of IT experience, or high school diploma/GED and 8 years of IT experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with privileged identity and access management tools.
- Minimum of 3 years of development experience supporting access management solutions.
- Experience developing and operationally supporting privilege technologies, including platform implementation, installation, configuration, and administration.
- Experience supporting privilege processes, including policy and vault administration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or Business Management.
- Experience with Delinea Secret Server, Delinea Privilege Manager, and secrets management tools such as Hashi Corp, AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault.
- Proven record of designing, building, and administering 24/7 enterprise customer‑facing services.
- Strong commitment to outstanding customer experiences.
- Self‑starter with a strong sense of urgency and a can‑do attitude, able to change directions quickly.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, capable of leading others through change.
- Experience creating, maintaining, and reviewing operations process and end‑user training documentation.
- Strong analytical and clear‑thinking skills.
- Understanding of financial security and regulatory standards, including SOX IT‑404, PCI, FFIEC.
- Ability to take input from multiple stakeholders, assess complex business and technical requirements, select the appropriate security solution, and drive delivery.
Grade/Level: 10
Salary range: $95,000–$160,000
USD annually, eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be willing to take a drug test, background investigation, and provide fingerprints as part of onboarding.
- Must satisfy Section
19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act. - New hires (Level4‑7) must have 9 months of continuous service before posting on other roles; internal employees must meet performance expectations and obtain manager and HR approval. Employees at Level8 or greater must have at least 18 months of service before posting.
