POSITION SUMMARY

A Dave’s Fresh Marketplace Bakery Clerk works in the Bakery Department preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising cakes, pies, breads, and many other baked goods. A Bakery Clerk also assists customers with our bakery products and services, providing an excellent customer service experience. This position ensures proper inventory control to maximize product freshness and availability, and answer questions from customers in a friendly and helpful manner.

MINIMUM

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior bakery experience preferred, but not required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be comfortable with customer facing interactions
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensuring that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment – includes greeting and acknowledging customers, smiling, making eye contact, and all other components of customer service
  • Maintaining an awareness of bakery advertisements – I.E., Weekly Ad bakery products
  • Sustains a high level of product knowledge and product preparation
  • Ensures cleanliness of bakery displays, storage areas, and work areas for safety; includes cleaning of shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris from floors, and sweeping
  • Stocks and maintains bakery displays, and ensures tag and pricing accuracy
  • Examines the rotation of all bakery products paying particular attention to expired stock and discarding outdated or spoiled items
  • Prepares various bakery products; includes the use of appropriate ingredients and proper cooking times for product being made
  • Finishes and decorates bakery product as requested by customers
  • Requires safe operation and usage of equipment – I.E., knives, scales, wrappers, proofers, compactors, garbage disposals, bread-slicers, and hand trucks
  • Cutting gloves must be worn on non-cutting hand while cutting any product. This policy is mandatory
  • Putting away cases of product into freezers and other product storage areas
  • Ensures proper temperatures in all cooler/freezer cases
  • Awareness of food allergens; able to answer customer questions regarding food allergens
  • Take customer orders with accuracy: both by phone and in-person
  • Walks department regularly to ensure an organized, and overall clean appearance at all times
  • Maintaining clear communication with the Bakery Manager at all times
  • Notifies management of pricing discrepancies
  • Assists Bakery Manager as needed
  • Completes all cleaning tasks as required
  • Adherence to department-specific dress code policy
  • Completes all logs as required
  • Strict adherence to all Food Safety & Sanitation practices
  • Prepare baked goods with adherence to Dave’s Fresh Marketplace recipes and quality standards
  • Adhering to all Dave’s Fresh Marketplace policies, procedures, and practices including signing, pricing, and loss prevention
  • Follows all safety practices and procedures
  • Performing other duties as assigned

  • Can calculate basic math functions – I.E., inventory and following recipes
  • Must be willing to participate in further job training – I.E., food safety training

  • Reliable and dependable; able to work a flexible schedule – including weekends
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week
  • Ability to solve practical problems
