Job Title: Cold Heading Engineer

Reports To: Plant Manager

Department: Engineering

FSLA Status: Full Time, Exempt

Responsible for tooling, gaging, machine repair parts and all other aspects of the Cold Heading process.

Position reports to Plant Manager.

Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to determine all related methodologies, techniques, principles, and related costs for quoting purposes.

Prepare orders taken from sales, for manufacture. Plan a manufacturing process or sequence of operations to produce the given part. Decide on what machines and what methods will be used for manufacture. Draw all necessary prints to facilitate its manufacture throughout the process.

Devise a layout and tooling book for each die and punch used in the manufacturing process. This layout/book shows all related tools required to produce part. Make all tooling prints using Cadkey 19 software.

Responsible for supervising Tooling Coordinator and ensuring proper quantities are in stock for tooling and machine repair parts.

Coordinates the efforts of co-workers and outside vendors to procure the necessary tooling.

Applies “SPC” and other Quality Control measures as required.

Troubleshoot problems on shop floor regarding tooling, fixtures, gaging, and all other manufacturing related problems.

Purchases machine repair parts as required.

Keeps drawings up to date and orderly.

Works with Quality Control Department in assigning and designing gages and gaging procedures.

Continues to stay informed of new techniques and products within the heading industry.

Must be responsive to all heading related problems.

Act in the company's best interest at all times.

Participate in relevant continuing education programs as identified or proposed by executive management.

Comply with all company policies, instructions and directions to fulfill company objectives.

Education/Experience

High School Diploma

Preferred: 2 year Associate Degree in engineering

Previous experience or on the job training.

Communication skills

Ability to read and interpret documents.

Ability to write reports.

Mathematical skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

Ability to work with ratios, percentages, fractions and proportions.

Ability to use and read measuring devises, such as calipers and micrometers.

Reasoning skills

Ability to define and solve problems.

Ability to collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions based on those facts.

Ability to make decisions.

Specific Requirements

Computer Skills - in-house programs and Cadkey 19.

Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks.
