Industrial Controls Engineer (High Voltage / Heavy Manufacturing)
About the Role
We are seeking an Industrial Controls Engineer to support a large-scale wire drawing and cable winding manufacturing facility
. This is a hands‑on, plant‑based role focused on PLC troubleshooting, Siemens programming, and high‑voltage electrical systems in a heavy manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate is a controls engineer who enjoys being on the plant floor, working closely with maintenance and operations, and taking ownership of automation reliability, safety, and uptime.
What You’ll Do- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in PLC‑based machine control systems
- Develop and modify Siemens PLC and HMI programs to improve efficiency and quality
- Lead electrical control system design from start to finish (panel layout, field wiring, schematics)
- Support commissioning, startups, and upgrades of automation systems
- Recommend and implement improvements to enhance uptime, safety, and product quality
- Partner daily with maintenance technicians, operators, and engineering teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (controls, power, or automation focus)
- 3+ years of experience in controls, automation, or electrical engineering within manufacturing
- Hands‑on PLC troubleshooting experience in live production environments
- Siemens PLC experience required
- AutoCAD experience required (electrical schematics and control drawings)
- Strong knowledge of AC/DC circuits, industrial power distribution, MCCs, and high‑voltage systems
- Experience in wire, cable, metals, continuous process, or heavy manufacturing
- Experience with drives, motors, and industrial networks
- AutoCAD Electrical experience
- Commissioning or system upgrade experience
- Large, heavy industrial manufacturing facility
- Majority plant‑floor focused
- Exposure to loud noise and temperature variations
- Overtime, weekends, or holidays as needed
- Up to 10% domestic travel
- Work in a large, complex manufacturing operation with real technical challenges
