Engineering Technician VI (H)

Bowhead seeks an Engineering Technician VI to support a newly awarded contract in Dahlgren, VA. This contract will provide configuration management (CM), logistics, mechanical and electrical engineering technician services, field service support, project management, drafting and design, technical writing, and acquisition services to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), Unmanned & Expeditionary Weapon Systems (H40) Division and Intelligent Automation (H60) Division.

Job Duties
  • Designs and constructs major units and equipment.
  • Develops new test procedures and measurement techniques.
  • Conducts tests and experiments to prove or disprove feasibility of design.
  • Gathers and maintains specified records of engineering data such as tests and drawings, performs computations by substituting numbers in specified formulas, and plots data to create simple curves and graphs.
  • Responds to and tracks issued work tickets.
  • Supports facilities, assets, and equipment to maintain, repair, modify, replace, and upgrade.
  • May provide work leadership for lower level employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or passing score on the General Education Development (GED) exam.
  • Ten (10) years of full-time professional experience as an Engineering Technician, providing technical support related to the design, development, production, or testing of systems directly in support of the Department of Defense.
  • Seven (7) years of full-time hands‑on experience in installation, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or testing of any major military system.
  • Experience developing and testing solutions to solve technical problems in research and development, manufacturing, inspection, and maintenance; assisting engineers in inspecting products, conducting tests, and collecting data.
  • Experience following published user manuals and maintenance documentation, including reading electrical drawings and system schematics.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in the Microsoft Office software suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment, with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
Security Clearance Requirements

Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. U.S. citizenship is required for Secret clearance at this location.
