Construction Estimator

Hutchinson Construction is actively seeking a driven and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team. This role is instrumental in fueling our continued growth and success by supporting the pursuit and execution of high-impact civil construction and utility projects.

We are specifically looking for an estimator with experience in civil construction and utilities who is ready to take the next step in their career. This role offers a significant high level of autonomy, requiring a high level of trust and commitment to the company. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Identify, evaluate, and help manage strategic project pursuits
• Lead and coordinate all aspects of the preconstruction process and scheduling
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs and incorporate into full project estimates
• Analyze plans, specifications, and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements
• Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier quotes; define scopes and integrate into pricing
• Maintain and continuously improve internal cost databases and estimates current and competitive
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients
• Support and enhance preconstruction best practices and efficiencies
• Identify potential teaming partners for strategic pursuits
• Collaborate with leadership to develop innovative, winning big strategies
• Take on additional responsibilities and special projects as needed

• Participate in site visits for projects during the bidding phrase to better understand scope and conditions
• This role requires time in the field; work hours may vary based on project needs

• Hands-on estimating experience in civil construction and utilities (sitework, earthwork, underground utilities, etc.)
• 1-5 years of relevant estimating or preconstruction experience
• Highly motivated self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills

• Positive attitude with the ability to perform in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• High level of integrity, reliability, and professionalism
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Experience with estimating software (B2W, Bluebeam, Pipedrive)
• A strong desire to grow into a future preconstruction/estimating leader
