We are currently seeking a Financial Analysis Specialist to join our team in Austin, Texas.

The Billing Subject Matter Expert (SME) plays a crucial role in overseeing invoicing, chargeback, and financial management processes for IT services, with a particular focus on public cloud and shared technology environments. This position is responsible for ensuring that invoicing is conducted accurately, promptly, and transparently. The SME supports the resolution of billing disputes and provides essential financial insights to both internal stakeholders and external customers.

The SME leads the implementation and ongoing management of IT Financial Management (ITFM) billing and chargeback processes for services consumed within public cloud environments. Responsibilities include compiling and validating resource unit (RU) and usage data using agreed-upon tools and methodologies; ensuring billing process integrity by identifying and addressing data feed issues, applying correct rates, and aggregating charges for accurate chargeback invoicing.

The SME maintains account code tables to track and report billing activities and ensures all billed volumes can be drilled down by service, product, and component through integrated tagging.

The SME coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to review preliminary charges and resource unit (RU) volumes each month. Responsibilities include presenting and validating monthly invoices and supporting documentation via designated billing tools, and providing detailed variance explanations for fluctuations in RU dollars and volumes in line with established thresholds and reporting requirements.

Accurate research and resolution of invoice disputes is a key function of this role. The SME issues prior period adjustments (PPAs), calculates interest when necessary, ensures timely corrections, and manages recurring billing problems. The SME responds to service credit claims and processes credits per service level agreements (SLAs), monitoring and completing Service Now requests within SLA time frames.

The SME delivers historical and forecasted utilization and cost reports, including 18‑month rolling views and budget forecasts supporting annual and biennial planning cycles. Forecasts are adjusted based on technology changes, capacity planning, and service decommissioning. The SME also prepares and presents budget reporting for customers to support annual operating budget reports and biennial Legislative Appropriations Requests (LAR).

• 3+ years’ experience in IT financial management, billing, and chargeback processes.
• 3+ years’ experience with cloud billing, resource unit tracking, and financial systems/tools such as ITFM and Service Now.

• Prior experience in finance, billing, or as an ITFM SME within a large enterprise or public sector organization.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large data sets, prepare detailed reports, and support audit and compliance requirements.
• Experience with budget planning, legislative appropriations, and financial forecasting.
• Familiarity with public sector or shared services environments is advantageous.
• Strong analytical skills for variance analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proven capability to resolve complex billing disputes and implement process improvements.

The starting pay range for this remote role is $50,000 – $100,000, reflecting minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all U.S. locations.
