The Protective Security Officer will protect federal property and employees from theft, damage, hazards, or interference. They will make periodic tours to check for irregularities and to inspect protection devices and fire control equipment. They will preserve order and enforce regulations pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.
Essential Functions- Control access to client facility through the admittance process. Assist visitors with a legitimate need to gain entry to the facility. Screen visitors and client employees in an efficient manner to expedite their admittance.
- Monitor entrances and exits; prevent unapproved or unlawful entry; control entrances, the movement of people and vehicles, and parking; operate a gate and examine vehicle contents; monitor remote entrances using closed circuit television; operate remote access devices; calmly direct persons who cause a disturbance to leave the property.
- Patrol assigned site on foot.
- Protect evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations; set up barriers and signage; provide direction or information to others.
- Prepare logs or reports as required for post.
- Respond to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents or conditions following procedures established for post, by the company, or through training or certification.
- Carry out specific tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for the assigned post.
- Must be able to meet and continue to meet all applicable federal, state, county, and municipal licensing requirements for FPS Protective Security Officers.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write using coherent English language.
- Must be 21 years old.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must pass a physical and drug screen.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must be able to obtain contract suitability.
- Must already have current FPS experience and applicable qualifications as outlined below:
- Contractor Provided Initial Weapons Exhibit/Certificate.
- Contractor Provided Basic Training Exhibit/Certificate.
- Contractor Provided Refresher Training Exhibit/Certificate (if applicable).
- FPS Orientation Exhibit/Certificate.
- Virginia Handgun and Guard License.

Stand or walk constantly on various surfaces.

High School or better.
ExperienceMinimum of 2 years security (armed), or one (1) year of law enforcement experience with a full-service police municipal, state or federal enforcement department; or a minimum of two (2) years of honorable service as a member of any US Armed Forces.
Licenses & CertificationsFPS Certifications.
