Position: Paramedic Skills Instructor (TRAINER 3) - 83664

Overview

The University of California, Davis Fire Department (UCDFD) is seeking a dedicated Contract Paramedic Skills Instructor to support its Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Education programs, including the Paramedic and EMT Programs, as well as other EMS offerings such as CPR and Stop the Bleed training.

The Contract Paramedic Skills Instructor plays a vital role in delivering high-quality EMS education. Primary responsibilities include providing hands‑on skills instruction for the Paramedic Program, with opportunities to assist in EMT courses, CPR classes, and Stop the Bleed training. The Paramedic Skills Instructor collaborates with the Program Director, Lead Instructors, and other Trainers to deliver effective instruction, evaluate student performance, and ensure program objectives are met.

Additional duties include managing logistics and completing tasks assigned by the EMS Division. This is a variable‑hour, hourly contract position that requires flexibility, as weekly hours will fluctuate based on program needs. The position is limited to 0.43 FTE or a maximum of 894 hours annually.

Schedule

Paramedic Skills Labs:
Fridays, 0800‑1800, with potential opportunities for additional skills days or practice hours. Skills lab days may shift to weekends in the future to meet program need.

EMT Skills Lab:
Fridays and Saturdays, 0730‑1630, during the Summer Quarter;
Saturdays and Sundays, 0730‑1630, during the Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters starting Fall 202.

Additional Flexibility:
Support for CPR and Stop the Bleed classes on other weekdays as needed.

The Paramedic Skills Instructor must be available for assigned days and times, including weekends, to accommodate program demands.
