Defense System Evaluation Simulation Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications and tools that support Department of Defense (DoD) modeling, simulation, analysis, and operational decision-support activities. The position focuses on high‑performance scientific computing, mission analysis, system‑level simulations, and data visualization for defense customers.

The successful candidate will work within multidisciplinary engineering and research teams to translate operational requirements into functional software capabilities. This role requires strong software engineering skills and experience in modeling and simulation (M&S), numerical methods, data processing, and defense‑related software environments. The work primarily supports government customers, with occasional support to commercial enterprises.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related technical field.
• Experience developing software applications using C++, Python, Java, C#, or MATLAB.
• Experience with object‑oriented programming and software development lifecycle practices.
• Experience developing or supporting modeling and simulation applications, scientific software, or analytical tools.
• Familiarity with source control and collaborative development tools (e.g., Git, Git Lab, Bitbucket).
• Knowledge of software testing, debugging, and verification methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. citizen (required by the research contracts with the U.S. federal government).
• Possession of a DoW Secret security clearance.
• Willingness to travel.

• Master’s degree in an engineering discipline, Operational Research, or related field.
• 5+ years’ experience in USAF operational or logistics planning/policy.
• 5+ years’ experience in DoD Operational Research or related field.
• Thorough understanding of the AF and DoD operational planning processes.
• Practical policy development experience.
• Experience with planning and executing workshops, seminars, or wargames.
• Exemplary technical and persuasive writing skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to obtain a TS clearance within 1 year of hire.
