Summary
A general contractor specializing in mechanical, rigging, and electrical construction services for industrial projects nationwide is seeking an Assistant Safety Manager. The role is responsible for ensuring the safety and health of all personnel at job sites, complying with legal regulations, company policies, and client requirements, while fostering a safety‑conscious environment.
Essential Duties- Instruct subcontractors to upload necessary safety documents into the system
- Review and approve Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) with subcontractors before each workday
- Ensure all required permits (e.g., Hot Work, Confined Space Entry) are obtained and completed
- Conduct jobsite safety training for company and subcontractor employees (e.g., Toolbox Talks)
- Monitor the jobsite for physical hazards and unsafe behaviors
- Provide feedback to employees on safe and unsafe behaviors
- Immediately report identified risks to the team lead
- Document jobsite hazards and corrective measures as required
- Respond to, investigate, and report jobsite incidents
- Participate in project meetings as requested
- Assist with other safety and health‑related issues as needed
De Soto, Kansas (project site)
Salary and Benefits- Annual salary: $85,000 – $90,000
- Health insurance, paid time off, and other benefits as per company policy
- Saturday, Sunday, and company-observed holidays
Must be available to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as required by the project schedule.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or related field required
- Health and Safety certification preferred
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a safety officer in industrial construction and/or mechanical installation preferred
- Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards and ability to apply them
- Ability to conduct training and provide feedback to employees
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem‑solving ability
- Proficient in PC and company communication tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, email, internet)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing safety guidelines, policies, incident reports, daily logs, and OSHA logs
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
