Public Tax Accountant

Job Description

We are in the search for a Public Staff Tax Accountant to join our team located in Livonia, Michigan. The role involves providing financial expertise, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and delivering accurate and timely financial reports. This position offers a contract to hire employment opportunity and is an essential part of our business operations.

• Prepare and review financial reports including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Analyze financial performance and trends, providing guidance on financial decisions.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures in conjunction with the internal team.
• Maintain accurate records of financial transactions through accrual accounting.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure proper financial reporting and adherence to company policies.
• Utilize Tax Accounting, Income Tax Accounting, and Bookkeeping skills to manage financial data.
• Provide mentorship to junior staff members and provide guidance on complex accounting issues.
• Utilize software such as Quick Books or other accounting tools to manage financial data.

• Proficiency in Income Tax Accounting and Tax Accounting
• Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or currently on a CPA track
• Experience or knowledge in preparing for the CPA Exam
• Demonstrated experience in Tax Preparation
• Proficiency in Bookkeeping and managing Bookkeeping Functions
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work
• Knowledge of accounting software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
