Do you enjoy solving problems, working with your hands, and keeping buildings and critical systems operating safely and efficiently? Oakland County is seeking a skilled maintenance professional to support the operation and maintenance of County facilities. This is an excellent opportunity to utilize your technical knowledge and troubleshooting abilities while working on a variety of building systems that directly support County employees and the residents we serve.
What You'll Do  
• Perform preventive, corrective, and general maintenance on County-owned buildings, facilities, and equipment.  
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, plumbing, pipe fitting, heating, cooling, refrigeration, and other building systems.  
• Conduct inspections to identify maintenance needs and ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and efficient.  
• Respond to routine and emergency maintenance requests in a timely manner.  
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and work orders.  
• Install, repair, and replace building equipment, fixtures, and system components.  
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and materials used.  
• Coordinate work with contractors, vendors, and County staff to support facility operations.  
• Utilize current Countywide and department-specific software applications to document work and complete assignments.

** Minimum Qualifications
** EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Be a high school graduate; OR have completed the state requirements for the General Educational Development Test (GED).
** AND
* * Have at least two (2) years of full-time work experience in commercial building maintenance and involving the use of one or more of the following mechanical/electrical trades: electrical, plumbing-pipe fitting, heating, cooling and refrigeration; or in a related recognized facilities or building mechanical trade.

Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.

Successfully complete the six month probationary period.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED May provide orientation, training and assistance to lower level maintenance employees.
