About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Data Scientist to join our team at Lackland AFB
, supporting 16th Air Force (16 AF). The Data Scientist will play a critical role in leveraging advanced data analytics, machine learning, and statistical modeling to support intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations.
- Develop and implement data science solutions to support ISR operations and decision‑making processes.
- Determine, create, and populate optimal data architectures, structures, and systems.
- Apply machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics to solve mission‑critical challenges.
- Design and maintain data pipelines, ensuring efficient collection, processing, and storage of structured and unstructured data.
- Identify and address data quality issues, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of analytical outputs.
- Stay current with emerging data science technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance analytical capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with all security protocols, classification guidelines, and organizational policies.
- Required Experience/
Education:
16 years without a degree, 14 years with AS/AA, 12 years with BS/BA, 10 years with MS/MA, or 8 years with PhD. - Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js.
- Strong understanding of data engineering concepts, including ETL processes and database management.
- Skills:
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for producing reports and presenting findings.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment.
- Security Clearance:
Active Top Secret/SCI clearance required. Polygraph may be required.
- Experience supporting 16 AF or similar ISR & Cyber organizations.
- Knowledge of ISR operations and intelligence data sources.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Certifications such as Certified Data Scientist (CDS), AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty, or equivalent.
- Minimum 15 years of experience conducting analysis relevant to the specific labor category, with at least a portion within the last 2 years.
- Bonus: A master’s degree from an accredited university or a bachelor’s degree plus additional 5 years of related experience (total of 20 years) as substitute for the master’s degree.

Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This range is typical for this position and may vary based on experience, education, skills, and geographic location. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus compensation, in addition to base pay.
