* This application is for Resident Teacher applicants selected through an approved educator preparation program. Only pre-identified resident teachers enrolled in these programs may apply to this application!
* Primary
Purpose:
Serve as a resident teacher while participating in a year-long clinical experience under the guidance of a host teacher. Observe and learn on the job in preparation for a teaching career while earning a degree or completing teacher certification requirements. Work alongside assigned host teacher and actively engage in as many elements of the classroom as possible. Participate in co-teaching, instructional planning, data review, and improvement throughout the year.
Qualifications:
* Currently enrolled in an Educator Preparation Program (EPP). Approved EPPs for Teacher Residency Austin Community College, UTeach, Longhorns in Residence, and Texas State University
* Actively working toward Teacher Certification
* Strong work ethic, open to feedback, with willingness to implement next steps, commitment to diversity and equity, and belief that all students can achieve.
Education/Certification:
* High School diploma or GED (Recognized by the Texas Education Agency or Regional Accrediting Agency)
* Bachelor's degree or in the process of obtaining a bachelor's degree through EPP
* Candidate must have a satisfactory outcome of a fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50) paid by employee.
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
* Demonstrated effectiveness working with people who have differing in cultural backgrounds and/or personal characteristics
* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
* Ability to communicate effectively
* Knowledge of general office equipment
* Academic content knowledge
* Ability to implement district instructional and classroom management with support from host teacher
Experience:
* Experience working with children preferred

Instructional Management
* Ability to learn to Co-Teach and deliver lessons prepared by the cooperating host teacher and experienced team members.
* Provide small-and-large group instruction under the direction of the host teacher using tools and rubrics developed by the host teacher and team
* Ability to learn to supervise student skills practice, projects, and digital learning; monitor independent work time in classroom while teacher provides instruction.
* Work with the host teacher to monitor and improve instruction with formative and summative assessments, grading, data analysis, and rubrics to identify next steps.
* Ability to learn to plan backward to align all lessons, activities, and assessments with high-expectations standards and curriculum.
Student Growth and Development
* Identify and address individual students' social, emotional and behavioral learning needs with support from host teacher.
* Meet with a host teacher to ensure alignment of instructional vision and delivery and to troubleshoot students' persistent learning challenges.
* Implement and suggest improvements to assessments that accurately measure student progress.
Classroom Management and Organization Improvement
* Manage procedures, supervise students, and develop students' social-emotional skills during transitions.
* Hold students accountable for ambitious, measurable, high expectations of behavior and engagement.
