Product Safety Compliance Engineer
Location:
Delaware, Ohio (Columbus, OH area). This position focuses on product safety compliance activities for the AC Power “LOB” line of business products, including New Product Development (NPD) and Engineering to Order (ETO) activities for safety compliance, sustaining legacy product conformance, investigation, and validation testing. The engineer provides guidance on NEC, UL, IEC safety testing standards to ensure product certification coverage and supports design engineering on NFPA, UL, IEC requirements.
The role may also involve participation in standards and regulatory committees to represent the AC Power Business.
- Maintain current NRTL (UL, ETL, CSA, etc.) product certification approvals.
- Acquire NRTL certification on new products.
- Compile CE compliance documentation for safety and EMC directives.
- Contract and coordinate with outside laboratories for safety and EMC compliance testing.
- Develop, review, and approve relevant test plans.
- Develop, review, and approve final test reports.
- Sign off on product release readiness through the NPD process.
- Stay up-to-date with technical standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide guidance to the design engineering or other teams regarding regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Participate directly or indirectly on standards and regulatory committees to ensure AC Power Business objectives are represented.
- Bachelor’s Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience working in product safety, EMC, or quality.
- Knowledge of IEC/UL product safety standards (e.g., UL‑1008S, UL‑1778, UL/IEC 62368, UL‑1973, IEC‑62310, IEC‑62040, IEC‑62477).
- Familiarity with laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes, Hi‑Pot, touch‑current meter, power sources, etc.
- (Preferred) Familiarity with ISO 17025 laboratory test procedures.
- (Preferred) Knowledge of EN55022, EN55024, or other EMC standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational, time‑management, and project‑management skills.
