Staff RN, Part-time​/Casual, Freestanding Emergency Department, Lewis Center

Job Description Summary

Provides general nursing care to patients and families throughout the continuum of care in diverse, acute health care settings. The department operates 24/7/365. The RN is accountable for the practice of nursing as defined by the Ohio Board of Nursing. The RN delegates nursing tasks to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and unlicensed assistive personnel (UAPs) in accordance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.

The RN provides professional nursing care services to patients per department policies and standards, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients.

• Assessment/Diagnosis – Performs initial, ongoing, and functional health status assessments for the population and/or individuals (30%).
• Outcomes Identification/Planning – Documents planned nursing interventions to achieve outcomes appropriate to patient needs, based on nursing diagnoses and collaborative problems (30%).
• Implementation/Evaluation – Evaluates and documents responses to nursing interventions and achievement of outcomes at appropriate intervals, revising the plan of care as needed with the multidisciplinary team (20%).
• Leadership – Participates in process improvement activities to achieve targeted measures of clinical quality, customer satisfaction, and financial performance (10%).
• Operations – Performs operational tasks as needed (10%).

• Current Registered Nurse license from the State of Ohio or a good‑standing multi‑state compact state license.
• BLS certification.
• BSN required at five years of employment.
