Primary

Purpose:

Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to support instructional practices that increase student growth and achievement.

Qualifications:

Education and Certification

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

* Master's degree (preferred)

* Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned

* ESL certification (preferred)

Experience

* Five (5) years of successful teaching experience in an elementary or secondary school setting; experience across multiple grade levels (preferred)

Knowledge and Skills

* Comprehensive knowledge of instructional pedagogy

* Comprehensive knowledge of current Standards for the State of Texas (TEKS)

* Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

* Experience in conducting professional development and supporting adult learners

* Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes in core content areas

Key Responsibilities:

* Work with teachers (in teams or individually) to refine their knowledge and skills in instructional best practices;
Methods of instruction may include in-class coaching, peer observation, co-teaching, and modeling effective instruction using a gradual release model.

* Mentor teachers to improve instruction and build their capacity to teach others.

* Establish a coaching partnership with teachers.

* Identify a compelling measurable goal for coaching interactions.

* Maintain manual and electronic records to monitor the impact of coaching on student growth.

* Work in partnership with Teaching and Learning to improve student achievement.

Additional Responsibilities:

* Adhere to all district policies, procedures, and expectations as outlined in the employee handbook and administrative regulations.

* Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

* Participate in professional development to remain current on best practices and evidence-based strategies, faculty/department meetings, and special events as assigned.

* Perform additional duties assigned to support the mission and goals of the district and department.

Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; [P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)]

Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment

Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise; occasional district wide and statewide travel
