SEMH Teaching Assistant Swadlincote (DE12) Specialist SEMH School Pay:
Take Home After Deductions 410 - 440 Per Week Long-term to Permanent Start: ASAP

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school provision in Derbyshire. This role focuses on supporting learners with behavioural special educational needs (SEN), helping them to access education within a supportive and inclusive environment. The school focuses structuring the education pathway around outdoor learning. We are looking for a practical person who loves the outdoors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with behavioural needs
  • Support the delivery of engaging and differentiated lessons alongside the class teacher
  • As a teaching assistant you will implement behaviour strategies and support a structured environment with high expectations
  • Help pupils regulate emotions, develop social skills, and engage positively in learning
  • Support personalised learning pathways and access to appropriate accreditation
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

What We're Looking For

  • A teaching assistant with a genuine passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional needs (school, AP, PRU, or similar)
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • A practical minded who person who loves the outdoors
  • Ability to adapt to challenging situations and remain consistent
  • A proactive team player who can work collaboratively with staff and support services
