Mechanical & Structural Engineer (PE Licensed – Michigan)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Structural Engineer with an active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Michigan to join our growing engineering and architectural team. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in healthcare facility design, HVAC and plumbing systems, structural coordination, and advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
This role will support the planning, design, coordination, and execution of complex healthcare and institutional projects while collaborating closely with architects, project managers, contractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop mechanical and structural engineering solutions for healthcare and commercial projects.
- Prepare HVAC, plumbing, piping, and structural system designs in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project activities with architects, contractors, and consultants.
- Conduct site visits, field inspections, and construction administration support as required.
- Review project documents for technical accuracy, constructability, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure projects meet healthcare industry standards, including infection control, life safety, and energy efficiency requirements.
- Support project scheduling, budgeting, and quality assurance activities.
- Mentor junior engineers/designers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Michigan –
Non-Negotiable - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering discipline
- 7+ years of engineering experience, preferably within healthcare or institutional environments
- Strong experience in healthcare facility design and engineering systems
- Advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and structural coordination
- Knowledge of Michigan building codes, healthcare regulations, and industry standards
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with architectural or multidisciplinary engineering firms
- Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards such as FGI Guidelines, NFPA, ASHRAE, and Joint Commission requirements
- Experience managing projects from concept through construction completion
- LEED accreditation or additional certifications are a plus
