Working in our Chief Technology Office (CTO)

The CTO division is where Open Cosmos technology comes to life. Covering engineering, product development, and technical innovation, the team designs, builds, and operates the satellites, systems, and platforms that make our missions possible. It’s a highly collaborative environment where ideas become real hardware, software, and data solutions that deliver impact from space.

Our Ground Segment team sits at the heart of this — developing and operating the systems that manage in-flight satellites and deliver mission‑critical data to our customers.

We’re looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineering Intern to join the team and support the evolution of our cloud platforms, helping to build reliable, scalable systems that power real missions in space.

What You’ll Be Doing

As part of the Ground Segment team, you’ll work alongside engineers across software, platform, and operations to support our growing cloud infrastructure and deployment systems.

You’ll contribute to:

  • Building and maintaining cloud infrastructure that supports satellite operations and data services
  • Supporting CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
  • Working with containerised environments and modern cloud‑native tools
  • Monitoring system performance and helping troubleshoot live environments and build systems

    Improving reliability, scalability, and efficiency across our platforms
  • Documenting systems and contributing to better ways of working
What You’ll Bring
  • Curiosity and a strong motivation to learn and develop in a fast‑moving technical environment
  • A problem‑solving mindset, with the ability to apply knowledge to real‑world challenges
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
  • A proactive approach, taking ownership of tasks and following them through
  • You’ll also bring some exposure or awareness of:
  • Cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP)
  • Programming or scripting (e.g. Python, Go, Bash)
  • Linux/Unix environments and command line tools
  • Version control (Git)
  • Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices
  • Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform)
