The job holder will play an essential role supporting the Lead Nurse in providing care for children in the Emergency Area while supporting the nursing teams throughout the 24-hour period.
Cross‑site working: approximately 15 hours per week in the Paediatric ED at Bassetlaw Hospital.
As an experienced children’s nurse, the role involves coordinating activities, ensuring effective communication, providing support to staff, and playing a key role in assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of care programmes.
Main duties- Act as a role model, promote evidence‑based practice, develop the children’s nursing team, and manage the department in the absence of the Lead Nurse.
- Encourage empowerment through coaching, teaching, facilitating development, and supporting service development.
- At least 2 years’ experience Band 5 or equivalent in Emergency Department or acute setting.
- Proven leadership and management skills.
- Experience in change management.
- RSCN with current registration.
- Evidence of CPD and implementation in clinical practice within last 12 months.
- Application of evidence‑based practice.
- Recognised teaching/assessing qualification.
- Understanding of training needs e.g., ALS, PLS, ILS, Trauma Course.
- Personal clinical development to meet service demand.
- Evidence of RCN competencies completion.
- Professionalism
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Problem solving, anticipation and forward planning.
- Act as shift leader/coordinator.
- IT literate.

Salary£39,959 to £48,117 a year (pro rata per annum).
