Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Position Purpose
This role accelerates business value by maintaining the plant’s manufacturing systems and physical property. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, tool identification and usage, and small physical property repairs. The role also may operate equipment to improve processing times and reduce downtimes. It demonstrates the company’s True North attributes: voice of the customer, respect for the individual, clear communication, fact‑based decisions, servant leadership, and a continuous improvement mindset.
The incumbent leads and collaborates using lean principles, tools such as VSM, Kaizen, and A3 to create value for customers, employees and shareholders.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on production equipment and troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment.
- Operate processing machinery and reduce equipment downtime.
- Apply blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to maintain manufacturing and facility equipment.
- Perform basic water plant operations and maintenance, including ice makers, compressors, heat exchangers, ammonia and freon refrigeration systems, pumps, condensers, and compressors.
- Ensure equipment functionality and supply readiness.
- Order and control inventory of repair parts and service equipment for safe plant operation.
- Inspect ice for clarity, cube size, and hole space to test production quality.
- Apply root‑cause analysis and countermeasure implementation.
- Perform minor facility and building grounds maintenance, such as changing light bulbs, painting, and minor plant structural repairs.
- Instruct and coach others in the use of tools and equipment for general facility maintenance.
- Assist in bagging product and occasionally direct production workflow.
- Facilitate basic data analysis for root‑cause identification.
- Conduct basic electrical and electronic systems maintenance without supervision.
- Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement to the Operations Manager.
- Complete safety checklists as required by Safety/Risk Management.
- Monitor and correct industrial health and safety issues.
- Apply advanced electrical and chemical safety measures and controls.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Adhere to the Code of Business Ethics, maintaining honesty, integrity, and high safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

NONE. This position may assist with directing production workflow but is an individual contributor with no direct reports. The incumbent must maintain a professional demeanor when dealing with vendors, suppliers and contractors and demonstrate commitment to company values and priorities.
Education and Experience- Required:
6‑8 years of work experience in an industrial maintenance operation and a Maintenance Certification from one of the following:
Journeyman Certification/License in Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical Disciplines (State Certifying Authority), Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator (Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association), Certified Maintenance Technician Level
