The Senior Associate Director, Veterinary Technical Solutions (VeTS) provides comprehensive leadership and strategic oversight to ensure a high level of customer service, compliance, technical expertise, mentorship, and coaching for the VeTS Team, which includes veterinary professionals (DVMs) and professional/technical/support staff. The focus is on supporting animal products sold and distributed by Boehringer AH in accordance with company procedures and global regulatory requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities Leadership and Team Development- Provides strategic direction and oversight to the VeTS Team, ensuring functional excellence through hiring, mentoring, development, and retention of key talent.
- Leads, develops, and supervises the VeTS Team, managing performance, development plans, team goals, and competencies to align with Boehringer AH's annual business objectives.
- Demonstrates and promotes organizational behaviors to enhance team productivity and engagement.
- Provides coaching, mentoring, performance management, succession planning, and active development plans for VeTS Team members.
- Determines staffing levels and resource allocation to meet business expectations while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Ensures high levels of customer service by linking the VeTS Team with Pharmacovigilance, Sales and Marketing, Legal, and Commercial Operations.
- Acts as a public relations contact in coordination with HR and PR for adverse events, quality issues, and medical or technical aspects of Boehringer AH products.
- Provides strategic input and serves as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including Commercial Operations, Legal, PV, RA, QA/QC, and Business Units.
- Represents the VeTS Team in corporate meetings, product launch teams, and relevant projects supported by R&D or the business.
- Drives VeTS Team participation at national and regional sales meetings, major conferences, and product launch initiatives.
- Serves as a strategic liaison for outsourcing vendors, ensuring effective communication and seamless operational oversight of vendor deliverables and quality standards.
- Provides strategic direction and oversight to ensure compliance with corporate procedures, US/global regulations, and government audits/inspections.
- Ensures adherence to global reporting requirements for US reports and strict compliance with regulatory standards.
- Leads the drafting, review, and implementation of department SOPs and related documents, fostering continuous improvement.
- Supports PV preparation and audit readiness for areas of expertise during inspections.
- Ensures all communications are recorded in the Pharmacovigilance database in compliance with corporate SOPs and regulatory requirements.
- Provides state-of-the-art clinical veterinary medical support and acts as a key resource for colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ensures timely transfer of knowledge from project teams and clinical development to the VeTS Team and stakeholders.
- Coordinates training initiatives for relevant departments on technical and safety aspects of Boehringer AH products.
- Maintains and administers technical libraries, WIKI systems, and product/disease knowledge repositories.
- Liaises with veterinarians and researchers to develop a center of technical knowledge and ensure access to resources.
- Provides customers with information on proper product use, extra-label use, technical inquiries, adverse events, and product or packaging defects.
- Consults with customers regarding product inquiries, complaints, and suspected adverse events, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Supports complaint investigations by asking appropriate questions and ensuring resolution.
- Partners with Field Professional Services Veterinarians, Sales, Marketing, PR, PV, RA, and QA to address regulatory, compliance, and customer service issues.
- Veterinary degree required (DVM/VMD from an AVMA-accredited college of veterinary medicine); advanced degrees such as MSc, MPH, or MBA are preferred.
- Must have at least ten (10) years of relevant veterinary practice or animal health experience, including a minimum of five (5) years in a regulatory call center environment (pharmacovigilance or technical support preferred), and at least three (3) years of people management experience.
