Early Development Specialist
Providing early intervention for Oklahoma children ages birth to five years who are deaf and/or hard of hearing. Incumbent assists families, maintains contacts, and conducts home visits to achieve outcomes aligned with the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) under Part C of IDEA and the Family Language Plan (FLP) under the FEELS Program at the Oklahoma School for the Deaf.

Compensation- Master’s Degree: $43,079.00 (2 years’ experience) up to $59,191.00 (25 years’ experience)
- Bachelor’s Degree: $41,689.00 (2 years’ experience) up to $57,269.00 (25 years’ experience)
- Plans and implements home visits and other interactions designed to address IFSP outcomes for children and families within their natural routines.
- Uses video conferencing to provide services per program guidelines, as needed.
- Engages families and children in ongoing assessment and evaluation to appropriately address next steps.
- Participates as a member of a team during evaluation/assessment.
- Ensures early intervention services and documentation are in compliance with state and federal laws and mandates.
- Organizes and/or leads family engagement events and educational opportunities for families and children.
- Collaborates with community programs and resources to support families and children.
- Works in partnership with Oklahoma School for the Deaf Early Childhood Education Centers teachers on goals for children jointly enrolled in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) and FEELS.
- Plans and implements training and mentoring for parent advisors, community partners and educational partners on core competencies related to working with children who are deaf and/or hard of hearing.
- Organizes and leads parent infant/toddler classes at OSD’s Early Childhood Education Centers or other determined locations.
- Establishes Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and attends Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings as requested, overseeing transition from IDEA Part C to Part
B. - Attends required workshops, conferences, presentations, and other training opportunities.
- Performs all job‑related travel as required.
- Completes an initial trial period (if applicable).
- Bachelor’s degree in deaf education or a related field.
- Three years of experience providing home‑based intervention to children who are deaf and/or hard of hearing.
- Current certification in deaf education.
- Knowledge of the IFSP, FLP, FEELS Program, and related assessment and documentation practices.
- Strong communication, confidentiality, and documentation skills.
- Ability to provide home‑based intervention and to organize and lead family classes.
- Preferred:
Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Early Intervention/Early Childhood, or Speech Language Pathology (or similar field). - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without future employer sponsorship.
- American Sign Language skills.
