The Dundee Youth Housing Service provides temporary accommodation and support for homeless/care‑experienced young people aged 16 and above. As a Team Leader in Housing Support, you will deliver operational leadership, ensuring high‑quality, person‑centred services through structured support pathways, staff supervision and partnership working.
Responsibilities- Provide operational leadership to practitioners and support workers and oversee delivery of structured support pathways (referral, assessment, support planning and review).
- Ensure robust baseline assessments are completed before accommodation placements.
- Manage staffing arrangements for a continuous 24‑hour, year‑round service and participate in the Team Leader rota.
- Lead partnership working with internal and external agencies to develop holistic, tailored support packages.
- Promote best practice, encourage reflective working and ensure safeguarding, risk management and equality principles are consistently applied.
- Support the team to help young people live independently, engage positively with their communities and achieve long‑term outcomes while maintaining service standards.
- Provide regular supervision, facilitate practice meetings, monitor compliance with policies and support staff through performance management.
- Embed practice aligned with GIRFEC, The Promise, the Health and Social Care Standards, and the SSSC Code of Conduct.
- Essential – SVQ 3 in Social Services and Healthcare, or HNC Social Services plus management award (PDA); SSSC registered.
- Desirable – SVQ 4 in Social Services and Healthcare or willingness to work towards it.
- Previous experience supervising staff and significant experience working with children and young people with complex trauma.
- Confident in all aspects of MS Office.
- Experience coaching staff to reach competent standards and working under pressure while maintaining drive and enthusiasm.
- Ability to work safely with challenging behaviour among children and young people.
