Temporary Part-Time Grade 7 Core Teacher

Overview

St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Schools invites applications for a temporary part-time Grade 7 teaching position at Sacred Heart School in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. This is a part-time position with a focus on Grade 7 Language Arts and Math. Experience with or knowledge of Daily 5 and/or guided reading, literacy/numeracy interventions, and a willingness to support extracurricular programming is an asset. This position will begin August 27, 2026 and end June 25, 2027.

Wetaskiwin, a city of approximately 13,000 people located 70 kilometers south of Edmonton, is the context for this role. Sacred Heart School serves nearly 550 students from Kindergarten to Grade 9 with a Christ-centered, well-rounded education in academics, arts and athletics.

• Focus on Grade 7 Language Arts and Math.
• Support literacy/numeracy interventions and use instructional approaches such as Daily 5 and guided reading where appropriate.
• Support co-curricular and extracurricular programs as needed.

• Experience with or knowledge of Daily 5 and/or guided reading, literacy/numeracy interventions, and a willingness to support extracurricular programming is an asset.
• Possessing a certificate in Catholic Education from St. Joseph's College is an asset.
• Ability to assist in co-curricular and extra-curricular programs is an asset.

Successful applicants will be required to submit a current (within 6 months) Criminal Record Check inclusive of a vulnerable sector check and a current Alberta Children’s Services Intervention Record Check (within 6 months).
