Lac La Biche County is currently accepting applications for a Summer Labourer, Waste & Recycling to support operations at the Beaver Lake Landfill during the 2026 summer season. This position is ideal for a motivated student seeking hands-on work experience in a municipal environment while contributing to safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible waste management services.
Under the direction of the Team Lead, Waste & Recycling, the Summer Labourer will assist with a variety of operational and site-maintenance duties, including:
Assisting with daily landfill and recycling operations
Directing landfill users to appropriate disposal and recycling areas
Maintaining cleanliness of the landfill site, including litter control
Assisting with waste diversion and recycling initiatives
Performing general groundskeeping and manual labour duties
Supporting staff in promoting safe work practices and public safety
Other related duties as assigned
Completion of Grade 12 by June 2026
Enrolled in a post-secondary program for Fall 2026 (proof may be required)
Ability to perform physical work in an outdoor environment and varying weather conditions
Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
Ability to follow safety procedures and work instructions
Effective communication skills and a positive, respectful attitude
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Outdoor, physically demanding work environment
Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, and noise
Interaction with the public at the landfill site
