We are looking to backfill this position within 30 days if possible, with a level 3 engineer, the position will be hybrid (expecting at least 2 days per week in the El Segundo office) with some travel required. Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to planning, coordinating, and documenting SV transitions from production to launch, on-orbit checkout, operations, sustainment, and disposable.
- Evaluate progress against the Government-approved transition plan to identify and report potential risks or issues.
- Suggest and implement improvements when deviations occur, including collaborating with stakeholders to develop corrective action plans and re-plan transitions with Government approval.
- Analyze satellite vendor-provided ground support equipment, launch, operational, and test procedures to detect deficiencies.
- Collaborate with Space Segment and Control Segment prime contractors, as well as PNT enterprise stakeholders, to ensure identified issues are resolved and reported at Government transition meetings.
- Develop comprehensive training materials, lesson plans, and schedules to prepare GPS IIIF Mission Directors and Launch Management Teams (LMT).
- Provide classroom instruction, operational floor training, and support for directing launch and early orbit efforts, on-orbit checkout, and extended stages of Launch and Checkout Capability (LCC) operations.
- Ensure the Mission Operations team is ready to support key milestones such as Integrated System Testing and Satellite Control Authority transfer to 2 NWS.
- Assist in creating technical documentation to facilitate the operational transition of GPS IIIF SVs into the Main Control Segment (MCS), including but not limited to:
- Operational Concepts Documents (OPSCONs)
- Communication Plans
- Freeze Charters
- Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs)
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in satellite operations, mission planning, launch operations, or systems engineering.
- Familiarity with GPS program requirements, Space Vehicle development, Launch and Checkout Capability (LCC), and Control Segment systems.
- Proven ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and align complex requirements, schedules, and actions to meet project deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills to monitor and evaluate project performance against schedules and objectives.
- Proficiency in technical writing, including the preparation of operational documents and presentations for multi-stakeholder environments.
- Active Secret Security clearance
- Master's degree in a related discipline or advanced certifications in mission operations or systems engineering.
- Experience with space vehicle operations, particularly in transition planning, launch management, and system integration.
- Broad knowledge of satellite operational concepts, GPS constellation management, and aerospace systems.
