Job SummaryThe Patient Care Technician assists the professional nurse in the provision of patient care needs according to the plan of care. The role requires learning and adherence to hospital and nursing policies and procedures, maintaining a clean environment, and caring for supplies and equipment within the scope of training. The position includes a variety of duties performed under the direction of a Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) and is suitable for individuals with a High School diploma or GED and current certifications as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
Starting salary is commensurate with years of experience indicated at time of application.
- Interface daily with patients, nurses, nurse coordinators, divisional nursing directors, support staff, and physicians.
- Prepare patient rooms and beds for admissions, surgical transfers, and emergencies.
- Provide activities of daily living (ADLs) including eating, bathing, changing linens, dressing, mobility, and continence support.
- Obtain and record intakes and outputs in the emergency medical record.
- Empty Foley catheter and patient drains per RN directions and document in the EMR.
- Take and record vital signs and other measurements accurately.
- Assist with pre and post‑operative care, including positioning, lifting, turning, ambulating, and using special equipment.
- Accompany patients during admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
- Participate in nursing reports and contribute to patient status reports.
- Perform treatment procedures such as enemas, surgical skin preparations, and application of ice packs or heat.
- Coordinate meals, assist feeding, and distribute water and other nourishment.
- Deliver general care to patients in isolation and provide close observation care.
- Perform post‑mortem care.
- Make rounds, anticipate patient needs, and respond to call lights promptly.
- Collect and label specimens and transport them to the appropriate area.
- Report pertinent information to nursing personnel, including any changes observed in patient condition or behavior.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment by organizing patient rooms, reporting broken equipment, cleaning as assigned, and managing unit linen and supplies.
- Document patient care information clearly and legibly.
- Use AIDET and SBAR during hand‑offs and patient transitions.
- Adapt to changes in workload and patient assignments.
- Recognize and respond to patient care priorities.
- Perform assigned duties independently and cooperate willingly with team members.
- Contribute to patient satisfaction goals.
- Act calmly and accurately in emergency and crisis situations.
- Evacuate patients according to fire and evacuation policy.
- Use safety devices and standard precautions to prevent infection.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED (transcripts required at interview).
- Valid and current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) (proof required).
- Valid and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (proof required).
- Basic computer skills.
- One (1) year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
- Bilingual language skills.
Preference is given to honorably discharged Veterans who have served at least six months of continuous service in the U.S. Armed Forces.

- Meet the minimum qualifications for this position.

- Submit a valid DD‑214, DD‑215, or NGB‑22, or a state /driver’s license proving honorable discharge.
- Provide the original documents at the interview.
