Overview
We’re hiring for a Staff Nurse (RN) in the PICU at the University of Chicago Medicine in Hyde Park, Illinois.
A Staff Nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) who manages patient-centered care that is outcome directed. Patient-centered care principles and professional nursing practice standards provide the foundation for the nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care provided. The staff nurse assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision.
UnitDescription
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Comer Children’s Hospital at the University of Chicago is a state-of-the-art facility, with 20 general PICU beds and 10 beds designated for cardiac intensive care patients. The PICU team directs the care of these critically ill children together with consulting services from across the hospital, including medical and surgical subspecialties (pediatric surgery, cardiac surgery, trauma surgery, ENT, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, plastic surgery).
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include managing patient-centered care and coordinating with team members to deliver high-quality care to pediatric patients in the PICU.
Qualifications- Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing
- Associate Degree in Nursing — ADN nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire, and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement toward a BSN degree from an accredited program.
- Current Illinois RN license
- Active BLS certification
- Pediatric or PICU RN experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree or higher

Full-Time, 0.9 FTE - Shift: Days, 7:00am - 7:00pm, every other weekend

The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity.
Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
