Job Summary
Crane Aerospace and Electronics is seeking a CNC Machinist – 2nd Shift for our Elyria, OH facility. Hours are Monday‑Friday 3:00pm–11:30pm. This role is eligible for a $1,000 bonus.
Essential Functions- Process rotors through machining, EDM, and supporting operations in a team‑oriented cell.
- Maintain cell inventory and perform maintenance per Appendix
A. - Set up and operate numerically controlled machines and other equipment.
- Make and verify any necessary corrections to program, tooling, and machine settings with Supervisor and/or Manufacturing Engineer assistance.
- Use gauges as required to provide a finish that meets manufacturing outlines, blueprints, and specifications.
- Saw material as necessary; clean and move parts as required.
- Pass an annual eye exam and perform product verification using measuring devices.
- Keep charts and records of completed sequences and processes.
- Rotate through different workstations within the cell.
- Perform rework, secondary operations, and secondary safety checks.
- Document non‑conformances per specified data collection procedures.
- Inspect work to ensure product meets all standards at each step.
- Complete all required paperwork, including inspection records, job routers, NCRs, reject tags, move tickets, and stock tickets.
- Ensure material is clean, identified, protected, and stacked before movement.
- Work with internal and external customers and suppliers; participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Use computer to access various databases.
- Perform other duties as assigned by department supervisor.
- Experience: Previous CNC machining and milling experience.
- Knowledge: Basic reading and writing skills; basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, detail sheets, manufacturing outlines, and written instructions; develop programs from manufacturing outlines; working knowledge of fixtures, cutting tools, and dressing wheels for finish requirements.
- Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent.
This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where such access is required, only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Work Environment- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, lifting, and stretching.
- Lifting parts, fixtures, containers, and wire spools weighing up to 25–50pounds to heights between 3 and 5feet.
- Use of burring tools and holding tools in awkward positions for extended periods.
- Manufacturing shop floor environment – greasy, oil‑laden, and exposure to dielectric fluid and coolant.
- Competitive hourly rate: $36.58–$38.76.
