The Education Studies Department seeks qualified candidates for temporary teaching appointments in educational methodology, policy, and leadership. Positions are limited‑duration and may be renewable for a total of up to three years, ranging from one to three terms per year, including summer. Courses may meet evenings, weekends, or be delivered online; faculty must be available for student contact via email, Zoom or phone.
Travel within Oregon and to West Coast states may be required for some courses. All faculty are expected to contribute to the equity and inclusion goals of the college and incorporate the best inclusive practices in their teaching.
- Teach courses in educational methodology, policy, and leadership on a temporary basis.
- Prepare and deliver course materials, assessments, and provide timely feedback.
- Make yourself available for student contact via email, Zoom office hours or phone for online courses.
- Participate in the college’s equity and inclusion initiatives and incorporate inclusive practices in instruction.
- Travel within Oregon and to West Coast states as required for course delivery.
- Doctoral or terminal degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, research methodology, law).
- Relevant expertise and experience by course content. In certain circumstances, a master’s degree with substantial related experience may substitute for a doctorate.
- Ability to contribute positively to a diverse community and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills that enhance community relations and support graduate student training.
- Ability to teach a broad array of applied leadership courses on topics such as research methodology, policy, leadership, and writing.
- Previous successful experience with the course(s) and related experience in university‑level instruction.
- For Research Methodology courses: experience in teaching research courses or direct experience conducting educational studies in K‑16 settings; expertise in one of the following areas:
- Designing research studies
- Measuring development and scaling
- Data structuring and management
- Statistical analyses (parametric and non‑parametric)
- Writing summaries of results for technical reports and publication in peer‑reviewed journals
- For Policy courses: experience in the development and/or interpretation of policies in educational/institutional settings at the federal, state, or local levels; expertise in writing policies, policy briefs, reviewing constituencies for risk analysis, understanding legislation, and awareness of current educational policy issues.
- For Writing courses: experience teaching writing courses or directly writing empirical articles for publication; expertise in synthesizing empirical literature, publishing in peer‑reviewed journals, and APA expectations for writing and style.
