NATURE OF WORK:The Public Works and Maintenance Technician-Water I.II.III isunder general supervision and performs a wide variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in operation, maintenance, and repair of the City’s water system.
Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from level I or, when filled from the outside, require previous and directly related experience.
Public Works Maintenance Technician-Water I:The Public Works Maintenance Technician-Water I is under general supervision; this is the entry-level class in the Public Works Maintenance Technician-Water series. Employees are not required to have directly related work experience. Employees assigned to this class are expected to perform a wide variety of tasks related to the maintenance, repair and construction of water, stormwater, and street infrastructure.
Work is observed and reviewed both during performance and upon completion. Once trained in specific tasks, employees are expected to work with limited supervision.
Public Works Maintenance Technician-Water II
:The Public Works Maintenance Technician-Water II is under general supervision; this is the mid-level class in the Public Works Maintenance Technician-Water series. Employees assigned to this class are expected to perform a wide variety of skilled and technical assignments related to the maintenance, repair and construction of water, stormwater, and street infrastructure . Positions at this level may oversee moderate projects.
Must be willing to train less experienced technicians. They will also lead other Technician I’s in the field if and when directed by the supervisor.
Public Works Maintenance Technician-Water III
:The Public Works Maintenance Technician-Water III is under general supervision; this is the most advanced class in the Public Works Maintenance Technician-Water series. Employees assigned to this class are expected to perform a wide variety of skilled and technical assignments related to the maintenance, repair and construction of water, stormwater, and street infrastructure with minimal instruction. Positions at this level will oversee moderate to complex projects.
Employees will train less experienced technicians. They will also lead other Technician I’s and II’s in the field if and when directed by the supervisor.

Public Works Maintenance Technician-Water I:
