JOB SUMMARY

The Construction Materials Project Manager (CMPM) must be a dependable, enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The CMPM will successfully supervise multiple geotechnical/construction projects from proposal preparation to issuance of final reports. This position reports directly to the Vice President of the Engineering & Inspections Division and will collaborate daily with all functional areas of the business to include operations, accounting/finance, contracts and sales & marketing.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with the client from the start of each project to ensure full understanding of the project scope and vision.

• Daily supervision of multiple projects from start to finish to include the management of field inspections and construction materials investigations

o Review project plans and specifications

o Confirm scope of work and anticipated schedule

o Prepare and review cost estimate proposals with required supporting documentation

o Monitor project process, performance and budgetary conditions

o Extensive client interaction including project kick-off meetings, site visits, phones calls, reports, and written correspondence

o Review commercial inspection and concrete break reports daily as well as soil density tests and site development activity reports

o Review project invoicing and billing schedules

• Provide a consultative resource for clients (external and internal) for problem resolution

• Communicate clearly and concisely with co-workers, employees of partner agencies, consultants, and personnel from other interested parties

• Actively participate in the sales and marketing efforts to include client interactions, industry events and maintenance of current client database


Additional Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Perform on-site project inspections including but not limited to soil compaction tests, concrete field tests including slump tests, casting concrete cylinders for future lab tests, verifying the placement of reinforcing steel, and other tests as needed

• Classify soils and assign lab testing


QUALITY ASSURANCE/QUALITY CONTROL

• Quality control of engineering technician fieldwork and paperwork

• Work with management to develop and enhance interdepartmental and vendor relationships and associated communications

• Monitor and address all reported internal and external control weaknesses and/or improvements


CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION:

• Revenue Implementation: coordinate with senior management, Contracts Administration, Production and Accounting to monitor and maximize productivity and meet monthly operations revenue goals

• Participate in team bi-weekly progress meetings to include taking meeting minutes, tracking action items and assignments and follow up

• Provide information and updates to the Sales & Marketing Department for pre-qualifications and proposals (i.e., case studies, resume package assistance, project close-out data)

• Assist with and/or participate in client presentations with Sales & Marketing Department

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering, construction management, or related field

• 5+ years of relevant experience

• Experience successfully managing construction projects of varying size

• Extensive knowledge of construction materials, processes and equipment

• Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities

• Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as exceptional interpersonal skills to include oral and written

• Proficient computer skills including all MS Office Suite programs; industry related programs a plus

• Must be a dynamic individual who is proactive and an independent thinker with a demonstrated sense or urgency

• Must be willing to travel to neighboring cities to visit and work on job sites. Therefore, reliable transportation is a must.


CERTIFICATIONS

Preferred certifications in one or more of the following areas:

· ACI / WACEL certification in the Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I, Structural / Special Inspections Inspector, Foundation Inspector, Certified in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation

· NICET Level III or NICET Level IV certification in Construction Materials Testing in the following categories: Asphalt, Concrete, Soils

· ICC certification in the following categories: Reinforced Concrete, Spray-applied Fireproofing, Structural Masonry, Prestressed/Post-Tensioned Concrete, Structural Steel - Bolting, Structural Steel - Welding

· American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

· American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level III certification in one or more of the following areas: Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
