Job Overview

• At North Bay Health the Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) has the responsibility, accountability, and the authority to deliver safe, effective, quality, excellent nursing care according to the philosophy and goals/objectives of the Department of Nursing.
• The RNFA utilizes Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring, Relationship Based Care, and North Bay’s professional nursing practice model to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for all patients assigned to their care.
• The RNFA makes determinations regarding the progress of patients toward goals and utilizes a therapeutic professional relationship with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to facilitate the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health.
• The RNFA functions as a first assistant during surgical incision, excision, and repair of pathology throughout the perioperative period on procedures for which privileges have been granted.
• Care is provided according to specific physiologic, developmental, and psychosocial needs of the patient.
• RNFA supports the mission, vision, values and expectations of excellence of the organization.
